Pick Deel if you're a small company making your first hires abroad in several countries. It can employ people in 130+ countries, pays contractors in 15+ ways and says it supports visas in 50+ countries.
Pick Remote if most of your people are contractors in countries it covers, or you're an early startup watching every dollar. Its contractor plan starts at $29 a month against Deel's $49, and startups up to Series A can qualify for 15% off for a year.
Both start at $599 a month for each full-time employee hired through their employer of record (EOR) service. So the choice comes down to where you hire and how you pay contractors.
How we compared them: on October 24, 2026, we checked both companies' pricing and product pages, plus G2's side-by-side reviews. Our team has used Deel to pay contractors in six countries and hire two through its EOR, as our Deel review describes. We haven't used Remote, so its side relies on Remote's own documentation and verified user reviews.

Pricing: the same EOR fee, different contractor fees
Both companies start their EOR service at $599 per employee a month. The fee covers the local employment contract, payroll, tax filings and benefits administration. The employee's salary, employer taxes and benefits come on top.
Deel also bills a mandatory Employer Liability Cost on every EOR hire, calculated from gross salary, to cover employer liability insurance (source). Remote's pricing FAQ raises deposits and accruals without answering them, so ask Remote about both.
Treat "starting at" as a floor. Fees can vary by country, so get a written quote for every country on your list before you sign.

Contract terms differ: Deel's pricing FAQ says it bills month to month with no long-term commitment. Remote's pricing page doesn't say whether $599 assumes a yearly contract. A 2026 pricing guide from Gloroots, a competitor, reports $699 a month without an annual commitment, so ask Remote which term your quote uses.

Contractors are where the bills split. Deel charges from $49 per contractor a month. Remote charges from $29 and bills only the contractors you actually work with that month, which helps when freelancers come and go.
US employees cost less on Remote, too. Remote's PEO starts at $99 per employee a month. Deel's PEO Starter costs $110 without PEO-sponsored health benefits, and its Hire tab lists $125.
Deel is also crediting three months of PEO platform fees on new contracts of two years or more. They must be signed between July 15 and December 31, 2026, and the credit lands at the end of the term. End early and you repay the full list price, including the credit.

What a small team pays on each
Here is one team priced on both platforms: four contractors and two full-time employees abroad, at each company's starting prices.
| Platform fees | Deel | Remote | Remote with startup discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 contractors | $196 | $116 | $98.60 |
| 2 EOR employees | $1,198 | $1,198 | $1,018.30 |
| Per month | $1,394 | $1,314 | $1,116.90 |
| First year | $16,728 | $15,768 | $13,402.80 |
On an annual Remote contract, Remote saves this team $80 a month, or $960 a year. With the startup discount the gap reaches $277.10 a month in the first year, for companies that have raised pre-seed, seed or Series A funding.
The comparison flips on monthly terms. If Remote's $599 needs an annual contract, its reported $699 monthly rate would put this team at $1,514 a month, $120 more than Deel.
Pricing your own hires? Fees can vary by country, so get a quote from Deel for each country on your list.
Get started with DeelWhere you can hire: countries, entities and visas
Deel lists more countries. Its pricing page lists EOR employment in 130+ countries on one tab and 150+ on another. Deel's EOR page says it owns the local entity in 130+ countries.
Remote lists fewer countries but says it owns every entity it uses. It offers EOR in 90+ countries and describes its network as "100% owned entities, no third parties." If that matters to you, ask each provider which of your countries run through a partner.
For contractors, both cover nearly everywhere: Remote lists 190+ countries, and Deel lists 150+ on one page and 200+ countries and jurisdictions on another. Deel can also convert a contractor into an EOR employee in 110+ countries, which suits teams that start people on contracts and hire them later.
Deel publishes broader visa support: it says it handles visa applications in 50+ countries with in-house attorneys. Its guide to EOR-sponsored visas explains how hires can relocate through Deel's entities, subject to eligibility. Remote's help center says it can sponsor visas "in select countries where it is recognized as an eligible employer" (source).
Paying contractors: payouts, fees and legal cover
Deel gives contractors more ways to get paid. Its payout guide lists the Deel Card, Wise, Revolut, PayPal, Payoneer, Coinbase, stablecoin wallets and local bank transfers. Fees vary by method: local bank transfers and Revolut are free, PayPal costs 2.5% and Coinbase 1.5%.
Remote keeps payouts simpler. Contractors can take local currency, a digital wallet, or USDC stablecoin through Stripe where eligible (source). Remote says 70% of contractor payments are instant and 91% are processed within a day.
Remote offers more middle-ground legal cover. Its Contractor Management Plus plan, from $99 a month, adds up to $100,000 of indemnity per contractor, capped at $1 million per company. Remote's terms limit that cover to claims tied to its own service warranty.
Both companies sell a Contractor of Record service from $325 a month, where the provider holds the contract.
Remote's Contractor of Record adds uncapped misclassification indemnity during the engagement, with terms applying, and an IP transfer clause called Remote IP Guard. Deel's Contractor of Record page says Deel takes on the liability. It doesn't publish coverage limits, and it asks for a deposit of one month of the contractor's pay.
Not sure whether someone should be a contractor at all? Our guide to EOR vs contractor classification walks through the risk.
Support, onboarding and what users say
Deel says it can onboard an EOR employee in "as little as one day," and Remote cites a three-day average. Both are vendor figures: Deel's is a best case and Remote's an average.
Deel advertises 24/7 support in your language and time zone. Remote offers 24/7 AI chat and live messaging 24 hours a day on weekdays (source), plus a dedicated specialist during onboarding.
On G2's comparison page, Deel (listed as Deel Payroll) rates 4.7 out of 5 from 6,913 reviews and Remote 4.5 from 4,789. Deel scores slightly higher on every category shown, including ease of use (9.4 vs 9.3) and quality of support (9.2 vs 9.0). G2 lists small businesses as Deel's largest reviewer group and mid-market companies as Remote's.

Which should you pick?
Choose Deel if
- You'll hire in several countries, or anywhere outside Remote's 90+ EOR countries.
- Someone on the team needs a visa or work permit.
- Your contractors want PayPal, Payoneer, Revolut, Coinbase or a card.
- You want 24/7 support and month-to-month terms.
Choose Remote if
- Most of your people are contractors, especially ones you pay only some months.
- You've raised pre-seed to Series A funding and qualify for 15% off for a year.
- You want misclassification cover without paying for Contractor of Record.
- You want the cheaper US PEO, or every hire on an entity the provider owns.
Deel also sells more around the core. That includes IT and device management from $49 per user a month and HR software from $5 per employee a month. Our full Deel review covers those, and our Deel vs Rippling comparison helps if you also run US payroll and IT in one system.
Our verdict: Deel for a small team hiring abroad
For a small company making its first hires abroad, our pick is Deel, and the deciding factor is reach. A second or third hire often lands in a different country from the first. Deel lists 130+ EOR countries to Remote's 90+, publishes visa support in 50+ countries and gives contractors more ways to get paid.
Against an annual Remote contract, that reach costs a team of four contractors and two employees $80 a month. The whole gap is Deel's $20-higher contractor fee, and on monthly terms Deel can be the cheaper option.
If your team is mostly contractors in countries Remote covers and you qualify for its startup discount, Remote costs less and you give up little. Either way, get written quotes for your countries from both before you sign.
